Project Title

Autonomous Tow Truck: Localization & Path planning

Description

This proposal aims to create an autonomous tow truck for Indus Motor Company (IMC), upgrading a standard tow truck to operate independently and boost logistical efficiency. The project focuses on enabling the vehicle to navigate and localize it- self within its environment using path planning and sensors like LiDAR, cameras, and IMUs. The current phase centers on self-localization and path-planning capabilities, with perception development underway. By reducing the need for manual operation, this autonomous system allows skilled workers to focus on more critical tasks and sets the stage for future industrial automation. Key deliverables include an autonomous system retrofit, enabling the tow truck to reliably self-localize and plan paths independently. This initiative not only aims to streamline IMC’s operations but also contributes to advancements in industrial automation, particularly in Pakistan.
